Sun’s Kinsella wants Liberal staffers to record when they “spot a drunken or stoned Conservative Parliamentarian”

In apparent retaliation to some unknown slights from unnamed Conservatives against Liberal Senator Joyce Fairbairn, who despite being deemed legally incompetent by her psychiatrist was allowed to remain in the Senate voting on bills for months (see here), Sun News’ Warren Kinsella has posted this on his blog site:

Leave Joyce alone

…or, here’s the deal: every Liberal staffer who spots a drunken, stoned or otherwise indisposed Conservative Parliamentarian will be provided with an online spot to record and document what they have observed. It won’t be pretty.

Or, you can be human beings, for once, Tory bastards. Your choice. (see here)

Quite the employee Sun News has there huh?

Update: Calgary Sun’s Stephen Lautens is now declaring open-season on comparing senator with dementia to others

Even with Alzheimer’s Joyce Fairbairn is a better Senator than most Harper appointments – good luck Joyce

We now have two Sun News employees publicly using Liberal senator’s illness to attack Conservatives

Update: Radio host Dave Rutherford had this to say

Warren Kinsella uses Sen Fairbairn condition as fodder for attacks on Cons, blaming them for exactly what he is doing. Cheap politics

The clear implication is that Conservatives are by definition inhuman at all other times…

Clearly, if the learned Senator is suffering then they are excused from duty due to illness.
Moreover, given that the malady is Alzheimer’s it is hardly cause for reproach when the Conservative senators make inquiries as to Senator Fairburn’s abilities; they are running an institution after all, known as the Senate an office of Her Majesty’s Parliament.

WK’s umbrage is misplaced, given the Conservatives currently carry a plurality of 57 members, Joyce Fairburn’s vote wouldn’t have made any difference on any of the recently passed legislation ie last 6 months. Her vote certainly wouldn’t have stalled the budget anymore than the antics in the House of Commons with 800 plus amendments…

I doubt that she has personally misspent millions or billions in the last 3 or 4 months, unlike the previous Liberal administrations

Warren’s a lawyer and he knows what occurs in the personal life of someone deemed ‘mentally incompetent’; their POA takes over. Their personal lives are managed by an assigned trusted choice.
AS tragic as these hideous diseases are to brilliant, thoughtful minds, when a person is certified MI, they no longer control any aspect of their affairs. That should most certainly include their business life if it includes their personal life.

It has nothing to do with sensitivity, trust me. This is an extremely difficult diagnosis to get a professional to sign off on but when they do, it’s certainly a real issue and affects EVERY aspect of the patients life. Both personal AND professional and it should.

Warren the Weenie had best remember the old saw about people who live in glass houses. The tit-for-tat response this idea is sure to draw may come back to bite him in his uber-partisan rear end.

  4. andycanuck Says:

Yeah, because Warren is such a model of civility.

  5. thhhtd@huyvgvgvu.ca Says:

Fair enough. What’s good for the goose Kinsella…….

I think perhaps a conservative MP could invite a Liberal colleague out for a friendly lunch where they will have a couple of beers, maybe more than a couple.

Except the conservative could drink ginger ale in a beer glass while the Liberal is drinking the reaL thing.

A couple of hours later they return to the House of Commons where a sharp eyed conservative staffer spots the drunk Liberal and smells beer on his breath. —- Oopsy!! >;D no beer on the breath of the conservative MP. How about that?

—- Kinsella wants to throw s*** knowing fully well *HE* won’t have to suffer for it. Ok, but his buddies in the Liberal party might.

  6. Joseph Says:

How ironic. He’s asking conservatives to play nice.
    Conveniently forgetting his own past.
Sorry Whiner, you stated it, we get to finish it

  7. Liz J Says:

Poor Warren, he has no official capacity in the LPC, like a youngster going stir crazy he has nothing to do other than look for opportunities to be silly, play silly games. Back to the toy box time for Warren.

  8. Paul Says:

Kinsella continues to be an idiot. Reason I quit watching SunTV, it was promising up until they brought him on-board. My heart goes out to Senator Fairbairn and her family.
I am curious why she was “working” with her diagnosis. Was she just trotted out to vote? Am I that cynical about Liberal leaders? Based on history, of course.

  9. Nice try Warren | Blue Like You Says:

and so the principled party of Laurier has come to this – fang baring at any reasoned discussion, by butt kicking operatives, who shill for the leadership cult of old – what an entitlist bunch of creeps, and what a boon to the NDP and CPC who perhaps shall reign forever …………..

  11. Dirt Says:

Has anyone sent a copy of that quote to Sun’s legal department?? I am no lawyer but asking people to go after Conservatives to potentially and allegedly shame them publicly is not exactly an ethical reguest?

  12. greyburr Says:

It is a red herring by has- been kinsella to cover up the fact that the liberal leadership and most likely the liberal media ,knew of Senator Fairbairns dehabilitating disease and still manipulated her votes..On the bright side ,Chevy McCallum willl either go on the wagon or into hiding for the duration of kinsillys witch hunt.

  13. Bocanut Says:

Weenie should stick to playing benefit concerts for Pussy Riot and having funny author lunches with losers like Michael Bryant.

  14. TangoJuliette Says:

I might not be getting this just right, but, I want to report the scandalous inflight behaviour of a 69 y.o. liebrano Senator and his 23 y.o. wife.

I am also reporting the scandalous behaviour of those grits who insist that a seriously ill Lib Senator, not take sick leave or LTDI, but rather, stay in the harness and just keep on mushing along! To what end, dear libranos, to what end?

Is this a newand enlightened “progressive” approach to gerontology? Are these the same dudes that howled about “freedom 67?”

The woman, nay, the Senator, from Alberta has long been a far too classy individual to be treated so shabbily, especially by her self-proclaimed “enlightened, compassionate and progressive” colleagues.

  15. ohboy Says:

Its been too quiet for warren as he passes his idle days awaiting a phone call from the liberal top brass on his special top priority liberal red phone. Sadly for the aged punk rocker: it hasn’t rang for years.
Warren’s feeling ignored and is trying to stir up some controversy at any cost.
