The Province editorial staff wonders if NDP MP Libby Davies, who questioned Israel’s right to existence here, ever thought about what her life would be like living in Gaza.
“As an extremely left-wing, outspoken, lesbian woman, there’s a very good chance that if she hadn’t been murdered already for everything she represents — either by the state or possibly her family — she’d long ago have been buried away in some dark cell, out of sight and mind, to prevent her ideas or example from spreading to others.” (see editorial here)
And Libby, they aren’t talking about visiting Gaza under protection as you and your other Canada-Palestine Parliamentary Friendship Association buddies have done here.
I highly doubt Libby and her partner (who runs a pro-Palestine website see here) ever allows reality get in the way of their fanatically held thoughts.

Libby’s recent questioning of Israel’s right to exist again illustrate the underlying anti-Jewish sentiments of the present NDP party leadership.Despite the many Jews of social conscience (like David Lewis) who helped create and support the party and its CCF predecessor,it has become naively suseptable to any anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian propoganada that comes its way.

I find the gay community’s support of Hamas repulsive and hypocritical, but I also believe it has more to do with anti-semite views than being pro-Hamas/Palestine. For so long we’ve held the belief that a person who is gay isn’t capable of the self same bigotry and anti-semitism as the rest of society.

The casual manner in which this bile comes out, suggests Davies has repeated these lines countless times before.
If so, then Layton, Mulcair and the NDP causus must be very familiar with her opinions on Israel.
The reason Layton is so irritated is that she was dumb enough to repeat them into a video camera.
Lenin’s famous description of socialists certainly applies to Davies, especially the second part of his quotation.

Most definetly not Mary t, they don’t like people like libby around that would influence the people of Gaza, but Israel, the country she despise does allow gays and lesbians- strange.

The left’s knee jerk, anti-everything-Israel position continues to surprise me. The fact that everything the lefties and socialists stand for, is oppressed or crushed in the Muslim countries they support is mind boggling.
How can you not support a country like Israel when compared to the rest of the Middle East. They constantly exercise restraint, have free speech, gay rights, and are a democratic nation.
Perhaps we should just send people like Libby over there to live for a while. If they survive their first week, they certainly have a new outlook on the kingdoms and dictatorships that make up the Middle East.

She will never beable to hold rallies nor scream at adminejad, nor to any other dictator in the middle east of her disgust to their mistreatment towards gays/lesbians-never.
So really, how can she demand fair treatment to gays/lesbians in canada and not to those in the middle east.
