Who in Chretien’s PMO got journalists fired?

Lawrence “Laurie” Martin makes an extremely startling admission that Liberal PM Jean Chretien and his PMO were instrumental in getting him fired from Southham News because of his Shawinigate reporting.

In response to a question from an interview from Stephen Maher:

“Yes indeed. I got into great trouble with the Liberal hier-archy and the Southam publishers because they went at Shawinigate and related semi-corruption-related stories involving the Chretin government with considerable aggressiveness.

This, as I say, resulted in a lot of difficulty for me, to the point where I was eventually dismissed by the Aspers, who ran Southam. I was told, and many others were told, that pressure was coming from the Chretien PMO on the owners of the papers to get rid of me and to get rid of Russell Mills, publisher of the Ottawa Citizen, who was let go also, because he gave credibility to Shawinigate and those types of stories”

    This is what they mean by unintended consequences. Maher’s attempt to smear the PM using the new book will now put Chretien back in the spotlight, and his involvment in Shawinigate. I’m sure somewhere Frances Bedouin is smiling right now.

      coverage? they probably are shaking in their boots that Chretien will come about them and have them fired.

      Now it is becoming appearant that the MSM ARE afraid of Chretien and the Liberals, so instead of reporting on them, they the media, turn their anger and frustration on the conservatives for what the liberal Chretien did to them media.

      Well well well look what we have here.
      I bet that every liberal media across this nation are given ‘strict instruction’ to keep their trap shut.

    So my impression that the MSM and the Liberal Party being one and the same is confirmed. Remember Milewski and Peppergate, L Martin and Shawinigate etc. Then you have Clarkson and Jean picked for being in the MSM. The average reporter/commentator could almost be excused for biased coverage because they suffer from Stockholm Syndrome.

    Chretien was a thug, and unfit for the office of PM. It’s interesting to note that if “Crazy Larry Martin” was fired for simply reporting on “Shawnigate” why has he written a book declaring PM Harper to be the evil one. If “Crazy Larry” was so intimidated and silenced by the Liberals under Jean “da boss” Chretien, then why is he working so hard to get them “back to power”? Is “Crazy Larry” still being intimidated by the Librano$ ?

    Then why is mental Martin slamming conservatives these days? I gues it has to do with his bosses, they demand it I assume?
