French couple’s phony Air Canada language lawsuit

You seriously have to wonder why a judge would even hear a Ottawa couple’s claim that by Air Canada not offering service in French it was a:

“violation of their rights, caused them a moral prejudice, pain and suffering, and loss of enjoyment of their vacation.”

Instead of calling them out on wasting taxpayers’ money bringing such a frivolous lawsuit against Air Canada, Madam Justice Marie-Josee Bedard played along with their expensive little game:

“The applicants’ language rights are clearly very important to them”

Too bad Bedard didn’t have the guts to ask them how they were to get around in the US on their vacation. (see here)

Liberal minister calling out Christy Clark on her gas tax flip-flop

Things are looking like they are getting heated inside the BC Liberal caucus as ministers and MLAs are tiring of Christy Clark’s lack of policy knowledge and her bad habit of changing stories to suit the day.

There is a big blow-back from taxpayers over the Greater Vancouver mayors’ decision to fund the latest transit project from another gas tax which Transport Minister and media “maverick” Blair Lekstrom supported but Clark dumped cold water on it in the media, leaving Lekstrom out to dry.

Now, Lekstrom is playing the ball back in Clark’s court by saying that she actually does support this gas tax:

“supportive of the outcome…and if you have questions for the premier, ask her” (see here)

This is going to get very interesting as Liberal MLAs start looking towards staying electable with a leader who continues to write policy on the back of a napkin and with the media finally beginning to do their job like this piece on Clark and the outrageous pensions given to BC Ferries CEO David Hahn here.

Stockwell Day follows Chretien to China to make big money

The first thing Liberal PM Jean Chretien did after getting out of politics was to tie himself to business interests in China and now Stockwell Day wants to fill his pockets the same way (see here).

Conservatives such as Ezra Levant went ape when Chretien enriched himself through his connections to Power Corp:

“It is unseemly, however, that the former prime minister who was so silent on China’s human rights abuses moved so quickly into working with those same abusers” (see here)

I certainly hope that we as conservatives don’t think it’s now OK for an ex-Conservative International Trade Minister to do the same thing.
