On his story about ex-NDP MP Jim Manly being detained by the Israel military for attempting to pass through the blockade of Gaza, Paul O’Neil doesn’t include the fact that the mentioned hard-core Leftie rabble.ca website has NDP MP Libby Davies’ partner as its publisher:
He said NDP deputy leader Libby Davies, once an outspoken defender of Palestinian rights and a critic of Israel, has been “muzzled and whipped” by Mulcair.
In March a report in the leftwing website rabble.ca, written by an organization called Independent Jewish Voices, was headlined: “Support from Israel lobby for Mulcair NDP leadership bid raises serious concerns.” (see here)
So, even though the entire premise of O’Neil’s story is how the NDP have abandoned their nutbar pro-Palestine faction led by their deputy leader and how she refuses to challenge Mulcair on it, he doesn’t know that Davies’ partner is rabble’s Kim Elliott?
It’s not like the media is unaware of Elliott as they invited her to be a speaker at the Canadian Journalists Association conference in April (see here) and that along with Star columnist Linda McQuaig, is a Honorary Endorser of the Gaza boat campaign (see here).
O’Neil either intentionally avoided telling his readers about this connection or showed us how incompetent he is as a reporter – wonder which it is?
Update: Postmedia has now issued a correction on this story about the ship carrying humanitarian aid (see here)

‘He said NDP deputy leader Libby Davies, once an outspoken defender of Palestinian rights and a critic of Israel, has been “muzzled and whipped” by Mulcair.’
So, big mouth Libby is muzzled and whipped by Mulclair which we know is very true. One look from Mulclair and his mps keep their traps shut. Even the msm walk on eggshells around Mulclair and dare not question him twice or three times on the same subject or else face an angry look from him.

Actually, that’s about the only thing that I like about Mulcair ie not allowing the anti-Israel nuts a voice within the NDP. It’s a very good change and we should all support him for it.

Where is the MSM on this? Mulcair is acting just like Harper is accused of.

Mulcair’s NDP is presently doing Liberal lite in an attempt to grab more Liberal votes. I really don’t think we can apply “what you see is what you get” to Thomas Mulcair.

Mulcair’s wife is Jewish and he is on the record of fully supporting Israel so on this issue, there is no doubt

Yes, with this in mind, have to wonder how much division within the party he’s dealing with? Does Libby Davies, one of his deputies, agree with him?
October 24, 2012 at 3:21 AM
Oops, should read …agree with him “now”? Have to wonder how things are going in Davies’ relationship when she can’t open her yap on the subject. Wonder if she feels strongly enough to resign?

That is the real issue. How will the anti-Israeli faction within the NDP keep reacting when their supporters want them to speak out
October 23, 2012 at 6:04 PM
So does this mean that when Mulclair is PM our military will support Israel in an attack against Iran? I suppose that’s one good thing about Mulclair, the only good thing about him. It seems that PM Harper dosen’t support Israel these days. I’m still voting for Harper tho. It’ll be a cold day in hell before I vote for Mulclair. But you know how eastern Canada loves the NDP so we got to be ready.

Who’s saying vote for Mulcair? I’m saying pick other issues to go after him on.
Mulcair 2008: “My in-laws are Holocaust survivors. Their history is part of my daily life. That’s why I am an ardent supporter of Israel in all instances”

[…] As I’ve pointed out before, rabble.ca is run by NDP MP Libby Davies’ partner Kim Elliott who was a keynote speaker along with Mulcair at the Canadian Journalists Association conference (see here) so don’t ever think that the Media Party will start letting people know like in this example (see here).
