In an email (see here) to CBC’s Kady O’Malley, Liberal Joe Volpe has this to say about his handler getting caught stealing and then replacing Green Party flyers with Liberal ones (see here) just as Volpe knocks on doors:
Hi Kady:
I do not engage in or condone this type of campaign behavior. When this issue about the canvasser was brought to my attention by the Green Party candidate, in deference to his concern and to the hard work of my own campaign, the canvasser was released by the campaign.

“I confronted JV on my way out after taking pix. I then informed my EDA prez. Elections Canada just got back to us”

This crime – and it is a crime under the Elections Act – was reported to the Returning Officer on Apr.22nd. There’s been no response. Surely CBC should check into why?

Yeah Joe, definitely don’t engage in or condone that sort of behaviour especially after the someone gets caught in the act.It’s a crime to take mail from someone’s box is it not? Shouldn’t charges be laid?
Hard to imagine going about the neighbourhood together and not know what’s going on unless he’s a magician with sleight of hand and puts stuff up his sleeve.
Maybe Joe needs a bit of magic to hold onto his seat.

You would think the law and order liberals would of turned this volunteer into the authorities. Or is Volpe afraid the volunteer would rat him out. You have to be pretty stupid, like the CBC and G&M, to believe Volpe’s story.

The Star had an online Saturday article on a lady whose car’s tires had been slashed. She said in the article that she was afraid now to have a liberal sign in her lawn, and yet she had he picture in front of the car standing outside her house. She blamed the PM’s ads for the attack. The comments to the article was were so bad for the Star’s reporting that they pulled it in short order. Today they are running the same pic and modified the story somewhat but added in Bob Rae. I wrote a letter pointing out the Volpe helper taking down the signs and wondering if the Star was going to report the story, but my letter did not get published. Only letters today are blaming the tories for the attacks. What a garbage paper.

Who does this kind of thing? Who thinks like this?
I’ll just say that the ones that go out with my candidate are hand picked and the strategy planning is done before the door knocking/ brochure dropping is done.
The people that accompany the candidate are there for a reason and in our case, they are scrupulous with their integrity, manners and communication skills.
These are the people that represent the Candidate. In V’s case, that says it all, hey? Nuff said!

This thing is so stupid,so lame, words fail me.
Why would anyone remove another Party’s literature from someone’s mailbox? If YOUR Party’s platform can’t stand up to a comparison with the other’s, go join the other Party.
It speaks to the character of the person that he will stoop to such a level,and it smears the whole group on Volpe’s campaign.
I work on the campaign of one of the Parties,and none of us would EVER consider stealing or vandalizing signs or stealing pamphlets. It doesn’t even have to be mentioned.
We’ll beat our opposition on the strength of our candidate and our Paty’s platform,period!
What kind of upbringing did Volpe’s worker have that he would even think of doing this!?

Didn’t Volpe write a letter to EC recently complaining about so called dirty tricks by his opponents.
